Gopnik geeks, get ready for a double-dose of your favorite New Yorker author at 92nd Street Y on the Upper East Side next week, when the food-obsessed writer will sit down with with some serious culinary celebrities for two separate nights of talking and...snacking, naturally.

First, on December 1, Gopnik will chat up legendary chef/ cookbook author Jacques Pepin and Cook's Illustrated founder and America's Test Kitchen host Christopher Kimball to talk about how home cooks can bring professional techniques into the kitchen. Your $29 ticket will also get you a snack post-talk, because no food lecture is complete without eating.

A few days later, on December 4, Gopnik will sit down with New York Times food columnist and founder Amanda Hesser and Top Chef host/ professional hottie Padma Lakshmi to talk about men and women in the kitchen—specifically, whether men and women can be the same under the big white hat. Tickets are also $29 for this event, although you should be warned that Padma doesn't have the most stellar public speaking track record.
