After debuting his new cocktail bar in the Lipstick Building last year, chef, restaurateur and Michelin darling Charlie Palmer opens up his latest restaurant venture inside another notable Midtown building, this time The Knickerbocker hotel. Palmer lends his name and expertise to three new eateries inside the hotel, including a full service restaurant and bar, an espresso bar on the ground floor and a soon-to-be-open rooftop bar called St. Cloud, which should debut in the next few months. When it does, it'll offer 7,500-square-feet of indoor and outdoor seating plus a cigar lounge.

Jake's @ The Knick, the downstairs coffee lounge, pays homage to hotel creator John Jacob Astor IV's son "Jakey," who was born just four months after his father perished on the Titanic. A somewhat somber story for a spot serving Brooklyn Roasting Company coffee and espresso and Sullivan Street pastries like croissant and pastries, but most of the Times Square foot traffic won't be thinking along those lines.

Upstairs on the fourth floor there's Charlie Palmer at The Knick, a full-service, sit-down eatery that'll serve breakfast and lunch to hotel guests and visitors plus dinner in the bar area. On the menu, approachable dishes like Grilled Romaine Hearts ($16) with a honey-lemon dressing and a Burger ($21) made with dry-aged beef topped with short ribs and Irish cheddar on brioche. For more adventurous diners, The Knick Test Kitchen turns out a special daily menu of proteins like veal head cheese and seared sweetbreads.
