Starting in August, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be hitting the road again, and have just announced another New York area show (at NJ's PNC Bank Arts Center on September 11th)... but you can still get tickets to their Madison Square Garden gig. The September 10th show has a bunch of 200 level seats left, which go for around $100.

Is it worth $100? Yes OF COURSE IT IS. This is Tom Petty we're talking about. We saw him at the Beacon Theater last year—a show where he mostly played deep cuts—and could not recommend the experience more. Even in the significantly larger MSG. Even if you are in the nosebleeds. Even if you want to hear the deep cuts but he plays "American Girl" and you have Buffalo Bill flashbacks. Even if your boyfriend's birthday is that day and he just wants to spend a quiet night at home with you. Seriously, he doesn't want to see Petty? Break up with him. Go see Tom Petty. Meet your new boyfriend at the show. Have Tom Petty play at your wedding. Name your first child Tom Petty. Name your second child Tom Petty, Jr. and so on.

Did we mention Steve Winwood will be there?

You'll also want to familiarize yourself with the new Petty album, Hypnotic Eye, which Rolling Stone described as "maximum rock & roll" and "a decisive return to the concise Sixties-rock classicism of his first great New Wave era albums." That's the first Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers release in four years, and it's out on July 29th—here's the trailer:
