The Super Bowl isn't exactly known for their cutting-edge musical choices, and this year's pick is, unsurprisingly, several light-years removed from her East Village heyday. Ladies and gentlemen, announcing your upcoming halftime entertainer: Madonna!

The Material Girl is teaming up with Cirque du Soleil for the February 5th festivities at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, an announcement that has been rumored since October. While Super Bowl producers have played it safe with their musical selections (Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen) ever since a little "wardrobe malfunction" involving Janet Jackson in 2004, don't get too excited that Madge will bring her erotic side to the big stage: the performance is shrewdly orchestrated to dovetail perfectly with the release of her latest single, "Give Me All Your Love," and her much-delayed film, W.E.
