Gothamist was there for some strange happenings at the Morrissey concert last night at Radio City Music Hall. After a pretty good show, featuring songs from his recent "You Are The Quarry" album, as well as older favorites ("Now My Heart is Full", "The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get", etc), Morrissey mysteriously cut short the encore and fled the venue. Gothamist reader Mark summarizes the action:

After the break, during the first song someone tried to rush but security got him. Moz touched his hand and said nice try. Then, almost immediately, somone else rushed the stage, stood near Moz with his hands in the air to show he wasn't going to hurt Moz, and security quickly threw him back into the crowd. Then, mid-song, Moz just put the microphone back in the holder and walked off the stage. Poof, the concert was over... Very short show. He came on about 9:15 and was done by 10:30'ish. People were booing up a storm.

We were pretty far in the back, so we didn't get a good look at what happened. We figure either Morrissey stormed off because he felt like security was abusing his fans, or he stormed off because he felt like security wasn't keeping his insane fans from attacking him during the show. Which was it?
