Clearly sensing an opportunity among fashion-minded new mothers, a Seattle-based company is making sure babies are at their most fabulous. Baby booties, shaped like high heels and available in a variety of styles (leopard print! patent leather!), are coming to NYC from Heelarious.

Heelarious, "her first high heels," calls itself "extremely funny, completely soft, fully functional high heel crib shoes for babies 0-6 months" and was inspired by co-creator Britta Bacon's thought, "Wouldn't it be hilarious to bring my daughter to a party in high heels?"

The reaction is definitely mixed: One mother told the NY Post she would "definitely would [buy them for a baby] for the sake of fashion," but another mom told ABC News, "I'm appalled. It's one thing to buy Disney princess shoes, but never in a million years would I put my daughter in those shoes." (The Disney Princess Shoes 4-Pack features high-heeled sandals for girls ages 3-8.)

Heelarious creators Bacon and Hayden Porter's website also notes, "Not intended for walking (heel will collapse with weight). Not intended to harm children in any way. WARNING: May cause extreme smiling and hysterical laughter when in use (this is completely normal)." The Post notes the booties will be in NYC next month. And since Saturday Night Live has already covered thong-style diapers, we'll settle for patenting a baby bottle shaped like a cocktail glass, complete with Cosmo-colored formula.
