Westway, the Manhattan strip club turned actual dance club, is closing on July 1st to make way for—what else—luxury condos.
In an interview with Paper Magazine, Matt Kliegman, who co-owns Westway with Carlos Quirarte, confirmed the building purchase had just been finalized over the last week.
"The reason why Carlos and I fell in love with it in the first place was that we really felt it was wired for people to let their hair down and dance and have fun," he said. "It's disappointing that it's closing."

A staple of NYC's classic downtown club scene since its opening in 2011, Westway unabashedly combined smutty, underbelly elements with high fashion and a "fuck it all" attitude. It'll forever have a strange, smoke-machined place in my heart thanks to Tuesday night's Westgay party, and for being the place my drunk friends always scream "SASHAY AWAY" to creepers. RIP.
