Week in Rock: Summer Love Edition

PATTERN IS MOVEMENT PLAYED UNION HALLThe bearded duo from Philly, Pattern is Movement, have been on a long tour with current indie rock android goddess St. Vincent. She may have been the headliner, somehow charming everyone from David Byrne to Ted Leo, but we haven't yet fallen under her spell. So far, it all sounds exactly like what this airbrushed A.I.-esque album cover looks like. Boring. So luckily for us, as the tour came to an end Pattern is Movement and St. Vincent split up in Brooklyn for a night. The latter playing at Bell House and the former at Union Hall (where even Zach Condon of Beirut showed up). The band played an energetic set that included a slew of new songs, Beyonce and d'Angelo covers, and some 'ol favorites like Jenny Ono. The only downside came once the music ended, when sadly we were informed they were fresh out of their double-amazing bearderific tote bags, so let's hope they return soon with some more. — Gothamist
