StePhest Colbchella '012: Rocktaugustfest! took over the USS Intrepid last night for a musical extravaganza featuring short sets from The Flaming Lips, Santigold, Grizzly Bear, and fun. According to Dustin Sherman, a swashbuckling Colbert first appeared "spinning a captain's wheel and brandishing a sabre" (with first mate Grandmaster Flash by his side)—after a game of life-sized Battleship with Jon Stewart, Colbert let the bands do their thing. Amongst the other highlights: Colbert singing "Happy Birthday" in Latin to a crowdmember, and as you can see in the video below, merrily dancing to Rihanna's "We Found Love."

It wasn't quite a normal music festival however, which some weren't aware of beforehand: fun, Santigold and Grizzly Bear (in their first live performance in two years) performed three songs each, as did The Flaming Lips, who also performed the theme to The Colbert Report. And of course, no Flaming Lips set is complete without Wayne Coyne taking a trip through the crowd in his giant bubble—Colbert joined him in his own giant bubble as well. You'll be able to see all the highlights from the event in segments this week on The Colbert Show.
