At this point we all know that, between CDs and MP3s, the music industry has been dramatically changed in the past 30 years. But knowing something and seeing it are two very different things. Luckily, there are clever people out there who will make depressing animated GIFs that will show you exactly how crazy the industry has been since 1980.
You can see the starting and the finishing slides above, but really you want to click over and watch the GIF do its thing up close. Watching CD sales rise from nothing into a giant red Pac-Man that eats the entire industry only to be nipped away by other income sources is mesmerizing. Also, we really miss cassette tapes.
