Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally awakened last night in NYC, with thousands of Wookiee aficionados and General Leia cosplayers—most of whom bought tickets two months ago—standing on line for hours in the rain to get a decent seat to see the next chapter of their favorite space opera. While they were killing time on line, we spoke to some superfans at Regal Cinemas Union Square 14 and AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 and quizzed them on topics including the Kessel Run, Yoda's original name (Buffy!), and Jabba the Hutt's chin wrinkles.

We also asked whether these diehard fans thought the rebels were terrorists, if the common man was better under the Old Republic or the Empire, and whether Donald Trump is more of a Palpatine or a Vader.

And because we had the attention of these very wise (self-described) nerds, we also decided to ask a few more important questions about Lord Of The Rings (Why couldn't the Fellowship fly on eagles to Mount Doom?) and Star Trek (Why are Klingons angry all the time?)—but the most important one was The Penny Question. Help us Stormtrooper Man, you're our only hope (for understanding why pennies still exist).
