Last night was the Muppets' long-awaited return to sketch comedy—well, at least they got two sketches. They appeared on Saturday Night Live to give a hand to host Jason Segel, who is the human lead in the new, upcoming Muppets movie. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Scooter, and Rowlf sang with Segel in the monologue and Kermit, a seasoned reporter, also showed up on Weekend Update to discuss how pizza is now a vegetable, suggesting maybe now the national anthem should be the Hot Pockets theme.
Segel's goofy demeanor served him well in many skits, and the Andre the Giant skit was particularly funny. Other highlights: Kelly Ripa auditioning replacements for Regis Philbin, a bed commercial and Jon Huntsman's appearance on Weekend Update The show is off next week but will return on December 3 with Steve Buscemi and the Black Keys.
