Funnyman Will Ferrell made a surprise appearance on Conan last night to announce a sequel to his 2004 cult classic Anchorman. Appearing in character as legendary Action 4 anchor Ron Burgundy, Ferrell emerged from backstage "playing" a flute solo so wicked it made Ian Anderson sound like a harelipped custodian whistling in the elevator.

As the thunderous applause subsided, Burgundy then got a little less classy, telling the crowd, "I like to keep my chops up. Jam with the cats here. These cats. Maybe smoke a little tea afterwards. See if a little backstage cutie ends up on my lap. And then later that night she's playing my flute. And by flute, I mean my turgid penis."

After giving some style tips to Conan ("You look awful. You look like like someone put a bright red fright wig on a skeleton and chucked it out of a helicopter.") Burgundy then made his surprise announcement: "As of 0900 hours Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman. It is official, there will be a sequel to Anchorman."

According to, um,, supporting cast members Steve Carell and Paul Rudd are said to be involved as well. Stay tuned to Channel 4 news for updates!
