Time to take a brief break from worrying about how the MTA's Hurricane Sandy-related damage was $5 billion (!!!!) and enjoy this beautiful visualization of the MTA's activity over a 24-hour period, set to a jazzy instrumental of "New York, New York."

DCist tipped us off: Transit agencies give their service information to General Transit Feed Specification, a Google platform, which then catalogs subway, bus, and train routes, schedules and routes. Enter YouTuber STLTransit, who took the data and created a time-lapse based on NYC Transit, LIRR and Metro-North data (there's also NY Waterway).
