President Trump pre-gamed his tee time with Senator Graham this weekend by firing off a few tweets bashing television. "Late Night host are dealing with the Democrats for their very 'unfunny' & repetitive material, always anti-Trump! Should we get Equal Time?" he tweeted, apparently forgetting that the equal-time rule mandating opposing political candidates get equivalent broadcast coverage if they ask for it only applies to candidates, not the ruling body, and also that he hosted Saturday Night Live in the middle of a presidential primary election.
Still, Stephen Colbert felt it was only fair to give Donald a little boost, so he invited Jon Stewart on The Late Show to provide a pro-Trump counterpoint to some of his jokes.
It...did not go great.
Stewart was also inducted in The Late Show's "Trump Attacked Me On Twitter" Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed upon him thanks to this tweet Trump sent at 3 a.m. on May 11, 2013, calling "Little Jon Stewart" a "pussy." Stewart gave a heartfelt speech:
Jon Stewart gets tearful upon joining the "Trump Attacked Me on Twitter” Hall of Fame. He's such a… man in touch with his feelings. pic.twitter.com/nks8lBSHDz
