It's the 16th Annual New York Tug Boat Race & Competition tomorrow morning. Twenty working and historic tug boats will gathering at Pier 84 (West 44th & Hudson River) for a parade and competitions like "nose to nose pushing contests," a line toss and a race. It's quite a fanfare, with fireboats spraying water. You can get tickets for a special Circle Line Spectator boat, or you can view the event at Pier 84, or view the start at Pier I near West 72nd in Riverside Park South or the middle of the race at Clinton Cove, West 55th Street and the Hudson. PayPaul has great photographs from the 2007 race on Flickr (included the image pictured).
