2006_08_carolyn.jpgFar be it for Gothamist to give Donald Trump business advice, but we'd have to say his firing of Apprentice sidekick Carolyn Kepcher is a terrible idea. The Post reports that the Donald fired Kepcher, who quickly rose to fame as the no-nonsense business associate judging contestants on The Apprentice, because she had become a "prima donna" and was more concerned with her own speaking engagements and public persona than running Trump's country clubs. Oh, she was just taking a page out of the Trump playbook! We know that the Apprentice's blush has faded, but there are far too classy, smart ladies on TV who don't take BS, so Carolyn was a breath of fresh air. But apparently Trump had enough - from the Post:

Insiders say that when Trump tried to reach her recently, she was off on a trip to make a speech. Another time, while giving a tour of the pro shop at the Briarcliff club, she didn't seem to know the prices on any of the merchandise.

Trump has been in Los Angeles for five weeks filming the next season of "The Apprentice." His daughter, Ivanka, has replaced Carolyn as one of Trump's two on-air sidekicks, while son Don Jr. is the successor to gruff real-estate lawyer George Ross, 78.

"George has been around a long time. He's seen everything. He didn't get excited even when women on the street started screaming when they saw him on his way to work," said one source. "But Carolyn took it very seriously. She thought she was a freaking movie star."

Hilarious. We just hope that George stays on - it's always awesome to see him observing the Apprentice contestants during challenges.
