Hey you guuuuyyyssss! For the last few years the TriBeCa Film Festival (which comes back soon!) has been screening free outdoor family movies as part of its "Drive-In" series and this year they've outdone themselves. They've just announced that not only are they going to screen the summer classic Jaws, they're also going to be screening everyone's favorite children's adventure movie, The Goonies!
The movies (which also includes the world premiere of the movie Knuckleball!) will be screened at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, April 19-21, in the World Financial Plaza. First up, on Thursday, will be Spielberg's classic shark flick—which maybe isn't the best movie to take the kids to? Then comes everyone's favorite Sean Astin/Corey Feldman/Martha Plimpton/Josh Brolin movie on Friday night. Finally, on Saturday, they'll have the world premiere of Knuckleball! which the festival describes like this:
This classic sports story recounts the trials and triumphs of two of the best known knuckleball pitchers in the MLB: Tim Wakefield, a Red Sox veteran who recently announced his retirement after 19 years, and R.A. Dickey, an up-and-comer with the Mets looking to make a name for himself. This energetic documentary from Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg, the directors of Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, deconstructs the controversial and erratic knuckleball style. - World Premiere, Documentary.
In addition to the movies there will be lots of other activities and live music to keep you and your family entertained. And, if only to see the truffle shuffle on the big screen one more time, we are so there.
