Koala bears are obviously having some fun: Victoria, an Australian state, is putting 3,000 female koala bears on the pill, which is made of hormones that will act as a contraceptive for five years. Parks Victoria, which manages parks in Victoria (and Melbourne's bays and waterways) and is heading this effort, is concerned because the manna gum tree, a kind of eucalyptus, is close to depletion and they fear the koalas will die once the trees are gone. Additionally, relocating and sterilizing the koalas haven't worked either, so Parks Victoria has turned to the "humane" option of the pill. Of course this pill is a small tube inserted under the koala's skin.
