2007_01_tony_camin.jpg Tony Camin hosts UCB's Broin' Out and will be appearing as part of The Marijuana-Logues at Comix on January 18th, 19th, and 20th. In this interview he discusses racial injustices, historical conflicts, and his plans for the future.

What does the phrase Broin' Out mean to you?

To get drunk and co-host a talk show at the UCB Theater with Leo Allen and Jawney Conroy.

People often associate the phrase Broin' Out with frat boys, what do you associate with the phrase frat boys?

Date rape and wearing two shirts. In that order.

Does it concern you that people might, as a result of the name Broin' Out, think that you're a frat boy?

Not unless they think I will date rape them while wearing two shirts.

What's the most fratboy-esq thing you've ever done?

Join a frat.

You're renowned for your quick wit. When did you first discover your ability?

Lemme think.

How did you have to train yourself?

I combined techniques from Rocky, Platoon, and Taxi Driver.

Do you have any go to tricks that you use for crowd work?

Yes. I look for a person in the crowd who looks like they might be a proctologist. GOLD! If not, I'll zero in on someone with a bad shirt. Then say something like "Nice shirt".

One stereotype of pot smokers is that it causes one's brain to work slowly, do you find that to be the case?

What are some other stereotypes that are untrue?

Germans drive great. Homosexuals aren't as gay as people think.

Do you find that people as a whole have become much more tolerant of others?

Yes, unless those others are different.

What would you say is currently the single biggest set back for civil rights?

Me not getting a Comedy Central Special.

If you could travel backward through time and make a single change to improve today's world, what would be?

Oh boy back in time, that's sounds fun. I think I would go to Disneyland or Paris.

While you're back there, in time I mean, is there anything in particular that you'd like to do?

Space Mountain and have some bread.

Which historical figures would you fight, given the chance?

I think I could take Helen Keller.

Which historical figures would you like on your team in a pickup basketball game and why?

Probably famous baseball players. Because they would be good at baseball. I am not.

In terms of historical figures, who do you think will play a large role in the future, meaning our present?

Um. That guy with the old timey mustache.

Who are some modern day figures that you think will play a large role in the future?

My Roomba.

What role do you see yourself playing in the future?

What do you foresee in your future, perhaps on the 18th, 19th, and 20th?

This is an easy one! The 18th is trash day, so I have to take the bags out to the curb, The 19th is my grandmothers 92 birthday so I'll get her a nice e-card. An then on the 20th I start my Curves classes. Go sister! In the evenings I'll be at Comix with The Marijuana Logues! Which will be fun. It's the original cast and we haven't performed together in awhile, so it should be classic.

Tony Camin will be appearing as part of The Marijuana-Logues at Comix on January 18th, 19th, and 20th. Tickets are available online.
