Reader Eugene spotted this "lost cat" sign and offers a critique to the sign's writer "in keeping with the politically correct fervor surrounding the now infamous lost child’s cap in Park Slope":

What do we mean by “White?”
DNA wise, fur color is meaningless. How do you know this cat’s genetic lineage is not one and the same with the African cats held sacred by once powerful upper and lower Nile River kingdoms?

"Docile" --- really?
How do you know it does not suffer with inner rage!

“Maybe Old?” --- Good.
At least no fixed, ageist assumptions.

“No tags.”
Well, maybe in this age of Big Brother invasions of privacy the owner was respecting the cat’s right to privacy.

The signs were found on lampposts along Prospect Park. But we can't say it enough: Microchip your pet. And if you lose your pet, this is what you should do.
