You’re eating bug legs, antennas and eyes! Well, maybe not yet, but food made with cricket flour is coming to your local grocery store. Expect these types of food innovations and spirited discussions at FoodBytes! Brooklyn on March 3rd at The Hall MP in Williamsburg. This event will inspire, connect and promote business and deal-making inside the food and ag innovation ecosystem. FoodBytes! Brooklyn is presented by Rabobank, the world’s leading food and agribusiness bank, in partnership with SF New Tech (NY Tech Meetup’s west coast cousin) and New York’s Food+Tech Connect.
FoodBytes! is where “new ideas and new capital come to the plate", born out of the need for a better platform to share ideas. FoodBytes! Brooklyn will showcase entrepreneurs building the next generation of food-related companies - ten startups (selected from over 200) will pitch their ideas to investors, senior food and agribusiness corporate executives, media and more. Each company gets 5 minutes to pitch, followed by 5 minutes of a robust Q&A. Plus there is a 60-second pitch, where anyone working on something great in the food or ag space.
The audience will vote on their favorite company for the “People’s Choice” award; the winner will attend Rabobank’s exclusive Client Appreciation Events in December to present and mingle with more top food and ag execs. FoodBytes! Brooklyn kicks off with a discussion on sustainability, resiliency and survival from speakers like David Barber (Blue Hill) while delectable edibles from Michael Psilakis's kitchen are passed. Tasty beverages and unique samples from some of the companies on stage will also be served.
