People tend to have strong feelings about Saturday Night Live, but being able to attend one of the live tapings is really always an incredibly fun experience. And with season 45 right around the corner, you can now enter the lottery to win tickets to see a show this season. As commenter Robert Madoo wrote several years ago, "This is the only contest/lottery I've ever won. The experience was absolutely incredible. No reason not to at least put your name up for consideration!"

The lottery runs until August 31st. Here's all the relevant info you need to know:

To enter the lottery, send an email to You may only send one email per person and all audience members must be at least 16 years of age. Submissions entered before or after the ticket lottery window will not be considered. Please tell us why YOU would like to be a part of our studio audience! If you are selected, you will receive two tickets for a random show date and time.

Please note that entering the lottery does not guarantee tickets, and you will only be notified in the event that you are chosen.

Stand-by tickets are distributed at 7 a.m. on the 48th Street side of 30 Rockefeller Plaza on the morning of a show. You may choose a stand-by ticket for either the 8 p.m. dress rehearsal or the 11:30 p.m. live broadcast. Stand-by tickets are limited to one per person and are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. We want to make sure the stand-by process is fair for everyone, so all stand-by line members must remain in line at all times.

In other words, only people who intend to attend the show will be allowed to wait in line for the show (no “line-sitters” please).

Of course, you’re free to take minimal, necessary breaks (i.e., going to the bathroom) from the line. Every member of the line is required to present a valid photo ID when the ticket is issued and at the return time. Please note that all tickets are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. NBC staff reserve the right to revoke the tickets of, or not issue any tickets to, anyone in line if proper procedures are not followed. Please arrive no later than 7:00 p.m. for the dress rehearsal or 10:30 p.m. for the live show.

Remember, a stand-by ticket does not guarantee admission.

SNL is still on hiatus for a little less than two months, but they have been putting up great vintage clips on YouTube all summer. In the meantime, you can revisit the best live sketches and best pre-taped sketches from last season, or watch a blooper reel below.
