Bruce "Broooooooooooooooooooooooooce" Springsteen hasn't played a show with the E Street Band in the NYC-area since 2012 (no, Albany does not count), probably because he's been too busy changing the oil in his car or whatnot, but that's all gonna change come 2016. Springsteen and (what's left of) the mighty E Street Band are heading out on a nine-week trek across the U.S. on The River Tour 2016, which includes two shows at MSG and one at the Prudential Center in Newark!
The tour, which is in support of his excellent just-released The Ties That Bind: The River Collection box set, will launch on January 16th in Pittsburgh. They'll hit MSG on January 24th and 27th (although, don't be shocked if he adds another show or two in between those dates), then come back to the Prudential Center in NJ on January 31st. Tickets for all the dates go on sale next Friday.
He's also hitting Albany again in February (those lucky bastards), as well as Hartford, Boston, DC and Philly, so if you are currently on Gchat trying to convince your significant other that it makes a lot of sense to follow Bruce for seven or eight shows because who knows how long any of us have in this world let alone America's preeminent car metaphor songwriter, well, it seems like a pretty compelling argument to me!
You can check out the full tour dates here. If you really want to convince your significant other that seeing Springsteen live for a dozen dates over a month-long period is not an indulgence but rather a necessity to your well-being, just send them the clip below. And if they still don't get it, just start punctuating every sentence by making a car honk noise (they'll get it, trust me). Or just send them this highly accurate and brilliantly written list of every Bruce Springsteen album ranked, it's a perfect stocking stuffer (for their inbox).
And don't forget: Bruce and friends are playing SNL in a few weeks when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler host, so you know, you don't want to miss it and disappoint The Boss, you could get fired.
