One of our favorite annual events is returning with a POW! WHAM! ZOOM! BANG! next month. The Moth is hosting their 11th annual Moth Ball fundraising gala on May 12th, and this year's theme is Superheroes. Fittingly, NYC's very own superhero Louis C.K. will be the honoree.

phpmvCPQyAM.jpg“If storytelling is a super power, then Louis C.K. is Superman," Sarah Haberman, Executive Director of The Moth said, "We couldn’t think of a better person to honor at The Moth Ball this year. His humor, artistry and openness epitomize the craft’s best qualities and underscore The Moth’s values of honesty and authenticity."

The night will include an award presentation to Louis C.K., a seated dinner, a cocktail party, a silent auction (with sweet items like drinks with Molly Ringwald and tea with Neil Gaiman), and the show, of course. That will include "narratives by National Book Critics Circle Award Winner Andrew Solomon, 2014 Moth GrandSLAM champions, and students from our High School Education Program."

Tickets to the sit down dinner have sold out, but there are still tickets left for the cocktails, show, and dance party ($195)—this is well worth it (open bar!), as you'll be able to see everything those at the tables do, just not from a seated dinner spot.

The event is held at Capitale (130 Bowery), which is a grand old space that still manages to feel intimate, and the whole thing will be hosted by the awesome Ophira Eisenberg, of NPR's Ask Me Another.
