2012's Moth Ball at Captiale (Sam Horine/Gothamist)

mothball14.jpgThe 13th Annual Moth Ball Gala returns to Capitale on the Bowery after a one year separation from the venue (last year's event was held at the Hudson Hotel). The annual extravaganza benefits The Moth—the acclaimed not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art and craft of storytelling—and is one of our favorite things to attend. There is a new theme every year, and inside you'll find lots of compelling storytellers, a silent auction, and the three Ds: drinks, dinner, and dancing.

This year the theme is “Between the Covers: The Living Library Moth Ball," and Simon Doonan will be your host, as writer Zadie Smith will be honored with The Moth Award. Amongst those telling stories on stage are Orange is The New Black author Piper Kerman, and former NYPD detective Steve Osborne.

This will all take place on May 13th, and tickets are on sale now. They range in price from $195 (Gala Party & Balcony Theatre Seating for Show) to $350 (Gala Dinner, Party Tickets, & VIP Table Seating for Show).
