Every year the Intrepid hosts one of the better summer outdoor movie series in the city, and that's because it's held on the flight deck of a goddamn aircraft carrier. Take that, precious little parks. This year their space-themed movie lineup fails, yet again, to include the classic 1986 film Space Camp, but it does include the 1987 Star Wars parody Spaceballs. Also an undeniable classic.

The rest of the lineup goes like this:

May 25: Top Gun
July 10: Independence Day
July 17: Gravity
July 24: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
August 7: Spaceballs
August 14: Captain Phillips

Their movies are free, and you are allowed (and encouraged) to bring your own lawn chairs and picnic baskets filled with food and beverages. Doors open at 7:30 for each screening, and space is limited so get there early.
