Nosy urban explorers too skittish to trespass, get ready: Open House New York has released its list of locations for this year's sites, and there are plenty to choose from.
Besides the aforementioned tours at City Hall and Google's Chelsea office space, doors will be unlocked for OHNY reservations holders at:
- The landmark Bryant Park Hotel;
- The elaborate Ganesh Temple in Flushing;
- Mercedes House apartment building in Hell's Kitchen;
- Edgar Allan Poe's cottage in the Bronx;
- The elegant Carrere and Hastings-designed Stapleton Library;
- A Tudor City penthouse;
- The neo-Gothic Great Hall of City College;
- The High Line, for a special tour with High Line co-founder Joshua David; and
- The Department of Transportation's Traffic Management Center!
Reservations can be made starting tomorrow, October 7th, at 11 a.m. Each reservation costs $5, and many of them will fill up fast. Here are some other must-sees:
- The Marine Air Terminal at Laguardia Airport (once the world's most expensive airport!);
- Four Freedoms Park;
- The restored Kings Theatre in Brooklyn;
- Paul Rudolph's Modulightor townhouse on the Upper East Side;
- The Onderdonk House in Ridgewood;
- A renovated townhouse on Coffey Street;
- The TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport; and
- The Department of Sanitation's Marine Transfer Facility on Hamilton Avenue.
