Monday: you're tired, you slept in too late, you were late for work (well, those things apply to us today)... you just know it's going to be an uphill battle all week. Turn that frown upside down, people! Because tonight local comedian Eugene Mirman celebrates the release of his new two-disc comedy CD/DVD, The Absurd Night Club Comedy Of Eugene Mirman.
Dress up your Monday (and we do mean dress up, in dresses and suits, you slobs) by attending Mirman's CD Release Party and Sock Hop at the Bowery Ballroom. Enjoy an evening of comedy hosted by Slovin and Allen (writers for Saturday Night Live), Todd Barry (Letterman, Conan, Comedy Central Presents), Jon Benjamin (Dr. Katz, Home Movies), David Wain (co-writer and director, Wet Hot American Summer; Stella) and guest Demetri Martin (Conan, Letterman). Oh, and there will be various special surprise guests, and Gothamist knows who some of them are, but we don't like to be a spoiler.
Gothamist had been listening to the new CD at work, but we couldn't stop laughing (so hard we were crying), so we had to turn it off for fear our employers would have us committed. "The Absurd Nightclub Comedy of Eugene Mirman" is available now on Suicide Squeeze records, and can also be purchased at Insound.
The comedy portion of the show will be followed by a Sock Hop party and 50's/60's cover band. Semi-formal attire is recommended. The show begins at 9:00 p.m. (doors open at 8:00 p.m.). Tickets are $13, available in advance at Ticketweb. The Bowery Ballroom (212-533-2111) is located at 6 Delancey Street at Bowery.
