For all you local beach combers, sun-tanners, and saltwater aficionados, you'll know that Riis Park Beach Bazaar's inaugural 2015 season became immediately analogous with (Hot Town) Summer in the City. With such great success in its first year, and featuring a ton of diverse and exciting events, concerts, and activities paired with mouth-watering food and drink options, Riis Park Beach Bazaar is, without a doubt, New York City's go-to beach destination.
And now that it's (finally!) warm out, it's time to announce that the 2016 season is BACK! The Bazaar continues its tradition of free, all ages concerts every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. In addition, the Bazaar will host the one and only Rockaway Beach Volleyball League every Wednesday, NYC's only beachfront karaoke party, Killer Karaoke on Tuesdays, the local-centric Rock! Away! music series on Thursdays, and the acoustic-themed Campfire Fridays every Friday at sundown. Just think of it as an excuse to take an extended weekend...every weekend.
Riis Park Beach Bazaar's delicious roster of permanent and mobile food vendors is second to none, and the team is proud to bring back heavy-hitting crowd pleasers like Fletchers BBQ and Ample Hills Ice Cream, plus exciting new faces like Whit's End Pizza, Ed & Bev's, Samesa and Cuisine by Claudette.
Of course, Riis Park Beach Bazaar includes all kinds of interactive beach activities as well. Areas of the beach and boardwalk will host everything from beach volleyball, shuffleboard and ultimate frisbee to touch football, tennis, golf and paddleball. Additional events like the NYC Mayor's Office annual pet adoption event, Adoptapalooza, Brooklyn Greenway Initiative's Epic Ride, and much more are on the books.
Riis Park Beach Bazaar is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Operating hours are 11am - 9pm Saturdays and Sundays (and holidays), 12pm - 8pm Monday through Friday. Check the RPBB website for additional hours and special events. We'll see you on the beach!
