You guys seen Bongo? He is the beloved stuffed animal of Manhattanites Bonni Marcus and Jack Zinzi, and he went missing on their semi-regular outing to Park Slope on Sunday night. And now it's in an actual newspaper! And he we are, concerned as well! So let's go retrace some steps...
According to the friends, they entered El Viejo Yayo in the neighborhood around 7 p.m. on Sunday, but when Zinzi "sat down, ordered the food, and reached into my pocket to put Bongo on the table—he was gone." Zinzi added, “I tore the car apart. I was in a bad way. Bongo really means a lot to me, so I kind of broke down."
He believes Bongo went missing between the time he got out of the car, and entered the restaurant, and believes that “somebody must have come along and thought he was as cute as I know he is.”
The duo, who are 47 and 58-years-old, have put flyers up around Park Slope and are offering a $500 reward for the return of Bongo... who is a Beanie Baby that is also available online for 5 bucks. But that would be a poor substitute for the friends, who have shared Bongo for the past ten years (he even accompanied Zinzi on a Hindu hermitage in the Bahamas.
