To celebrate Labor Day weekend, Wilco will be streaming their newest album, The Whole Love, three weeks before its release date! The stream, which will be available on their website TODAY only for 24 hours starting at 1 p.m. ET, is “a reward for your labors, ours, and those of our forefathers/mothers.” Head here to Wilcoworld.com to listen now!
Wilco has made a habit of streaming their albums weeks (and months) before their release dates, starting with 2002's classic Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. The newest album sees the band making a slight shift back to the more expansive studio creations of Summerteeth, with a dose of live-sounding country-speckled tunes. It starts with the experimental "The Art of Almost," which climaxes in a blistering guitar frenzy; highlights include the new wavey powerpop "Standing O," sinewy rocker "Born Alone," and the epic twelve-minute folk closer "One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)."
Wilco are playing two (already sold out) shows at Central Park on September 22 and 23. You can listen to the first single from the album, "I Might", below, and watch a video of the band performing Nick Lowe cover "I Love My Label":
