Tomorrow night the Grateful Dead's annual movie event will take place on screens across the country (in NYC it will be at Union Square and Kips Bay theaters), and this year they'll be revisiting the Donna Era. Embrace the Donna Era! The band's archivist David Lemieux said in a statement: "There's never been a show from this era filmed so clearly in its entirety, and this audiovisual document captures the band at arguably their creative zenith. As a Deadhead and an archivist, this is some of the most exciting footage of the Dead I've ever come across." That performance was filmed in Bremen, Germany in 1972 for a TV show called the Beat Club, and was one of the last shows with Pigpen, who stopped touring later that year, and died in 1973. Here's another clip from the broadcast:
