Ray Charles

, the indescribably amazing musician who spanned jazz, rock, blues, country and more, died yesterday at 73, after a series of health problems. Gothamist was seriously saddened, because hearing his rich voice is always such a pleasure (we tear up when we hear the drawn-out versin of "Georgia On My Mind."). But, he lived a pretty full life considering all the problems he had, and we are luckier that his talent was recognized and that we still have his music to listen to. Thanks, Ray.

Songwriters A film, Ray, starring Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles and directed by Taylor Hackford, based on Charles' life was previously scheduled to be released this fall.
