Fans have waited nearly four years for R. Kelly to release his autobiographical song to himself, "Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me," which is due out tomorrow. But his management told TMZ that the singer has officially postponed the R. Kelly Book Launch event in NYC "due to a health emergency that has sidelined Mr. Kelly in Chicago." Could it have something to do with the fact that his afterparty has been cancelled? Or maybe he's just hard at work finishing those next chapters of "Trapped in the Closet." And everyone knows Kelly doesn't like to be interrupted:
Well, knowing Kelly, the event probably would have only been a couple minutes long and filled with lots of vague threats. Kelly has also cancelled Jimmy Fallon and Today show appearances because of a vocal problem: "Initial indications are that he is suffering from complications from surgery he had last year to treat an abscess on his vocal cords." The book is still due to be released tomorrow, and excerpts and blurbs gives a good impression of what's in it. The book is divided into three chapters: the first on his early life, the second on his early successes in the music industry, and the third on the challenges of his success. That last part includes extensive discussion of "the diss-respect of colleagues, the painful end of his 12-year marriage, and the pepper spray truth behind the 'Best of Both Worlds Tour.'"
You can read excerpts about him meeting Tupac and Biggie before their deaths at Rolling Stone—suffice to say, Kelly concludes he "came from the same 'hood" as both of them, which seems geographically impossible, but whatever.
