Instant Entertainment: '80s Sitcom Nostalgia Edition

Do you know that you never have to watch boring, new sitcoms because your laptop is basically a time machine back to 1980s television? It's true. Thanks to Hulu Plus and Netflix, you can tune into nostalgia day and night. May we suggest you start with a little Alf or Family Ties?

Alf was on the air from 1986 to 1990 and focused on Gordon Shumway (aka ALF) and his human hosts on earth, the Tanner family. They take him in after his spaceship lands on their property, and spend their time trying to fix it for him, while keeping that nosy neighbor Mrs. Ochmonek from finding out about their alien guest. Also, ALF enjoyed eating cats. And now you can watch all four season on on YouTube... where can also find ALF lip synching Michael Jackson's "Bilie Jean":

Family Ties was with us from 1982 to 1989 and "reflected the move in the United States from the cultural liberalism of the 1960s and 1970s to the conservatism of the 1980s" (who can forget Alex P. Keaton's hardcore Republicanism!). You can catch the whole Keaton family (and Skippy!) on Netflix Instant. Remember that time Tom Hanks appeared as drunk Uncle Ned? (Other guests included Joseph Gordon-Levitt, River Phoenix, and two Baldwin brothers!).
