Back with an unbelievably strong lineup and the best-dressed attendees of any New York Festival, Afropunk 2017 was the place to be over the weekend as tens of thousands gathered in Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park. Music highlights from the weekend included Solange, Raphael Saadi, Anderson .Paak, Kaytranada, Gary Clark Jr, Michael Kiwanuka, SZA, Macy Gray, Sample, Thundercat, Willow Smith, Nao, Son Little, and Brooklyn's own superstar teenage metal trio Unlocking the Truth. And, of course, there were the looks—more than anything, Afropunk is about the creative energy of the crowd, and last weekend photographer Elias Williams captured it all. Be it face paint, beads, knit patterns, or a perfect pair of shades, the duds of Afropunk point toward a present and future for fashion that's confidently black and unceasingly dope.

Afropunk is no longer a party for locals only, and so if you missed out on last weekend's festivities you do have a shot at redemption: tickets for Afropunk Atlanta are still on sale. Many of the same headliners will be hitting the stage down south October 14-15.
