Because it's important to consider alternative transportation options in a post-Sandy Mad Max world, here's a look at Bike Kill, one of Brooklyn's greatest and weirdest traditions. Over 300 freaks and bike geeks gathered on the cul-de-sac behind the Home Depot in Bed-Stuy on Saturday to ride hybrid DIY bicycles around in circles and splash each other with red dye. As night fell, there was tall bike jousting; here's video:
It was all good, dirty fun, fueled by copious cans of beer and delicious vegan soup prepared by the indispensable Jeff Stark. Here's video of the surfing:
