Saturday marked the 9th annual Dance Parade, which was created to "promote dance as an expressive and unifying art form by showcasing all forms of dance." Thousands of people came out to follow the parade of colorful dancers from 21st Street down to Tompkins Square Park.

"It wasn't as hot as some of the summer festivals end up being, but it was perfect weather and everyone was dancing all over the streets and sidewalks," photographer Gretchen Robinette said. Click through for photos from the event above, and a video of performers warming up below.
