While many (children) celebrated Thursday's big snow storm, it's possible the only other people happy about it were the cobblers and shoe stores that will reap the benefits after New Yorker after New Yorker ruins their shoes when unwittingly stepping into a slush puddle.
Hundreds of vessels containing that wintry mix of snow, ice, rock salt, dog pee, car exhaust, garbage and probably a rat carcass popped up at street corners all over the city. To be fair, the intersections in Midtown Manhattan looked pretty clear by yesterday morning, but the streets around Union Square remained treacherous.
It's probably still time to buy in Slushwick.
