Yesterday the Coney Island Polar Bear Club, the oldest winter bathing organization in the United States, got a few extra members for their annual New Year's Day swim. While the members swim in the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island every Sunday from November through April, the New Year's Day plunge always gets the biggest turnout. It's symbolic, or something!
