There were no mud piles in sight as thousands of music fans streamed into Randall's Island yesterday for the first day of Governors Ball 2015. Click through to check out photos of some of the major performers as well as plenty of crowd shots.
There was a steady drizzle of light rain for the first hours of the event, but the sun thankfully broke through around 3 p.m. to provide plenty of pleasant weather for the major acts of the evening, including Florence and The Machine, Chromeo, St. Vincent, Charli XCX, My Morning Jacket and Drake.
Highlights included Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend making a guest appearance during Chromeo's set, and Florence seeing a sign that said "Hug?", and then having the person crowd surf to the front for an embrace.
The lowest moment came when Slim Jimmy from Rae Sremmurd was injured after tumbling off a speaker in front of the crowd; he gashed his leg up badly, and wasn't able to finish the set. But he was in good spirits: "I got a big ass piece of glass in my leg, so if you got that video, put that shit on Instagram," he said to audience before leaving the stage.
