With heightened security, New Yorkers and tourists alike enjoyed last night's glorious Macy's July 4th Fireworks.

With five barges in the East River—one south of the Brooklyn Bridge and four across from 23rd and 37th Streets in Manhattan/Long Island City—50,000 pyrotechnic shells exploded in dizzying shapes and designs.

One visitor from Minnesota told NBC New York, "It was awesome. It was the benchmark for all else to be measured."
