The Javits Center was the place to be this weekend for anyone with an appreciation for Man's Best Friend and Man's Most Fascinating Friend. The American Kennel Club and The International Cat Association teamed up for their annual "Meet the Breeds" event, a full weekend of oohing, aahhing, petting and playing.
The $20 ticket was well worth it if you're a dog or cat lover—myriad different breeding clubs set up thematic booths throughout the sprawling convention center showing of the various adorable creatures, and visitors were welcome to pet the pets. In the center of the space there was an arena for dog breeders to show off their hounds' special skills and tricks, and up front there was a fashion runway hosting an amazing feline "parade of breeds," where some of the most mellow cats on earth were trotted out for the crowd. It was pretty surreal.
Here are Katie Sokoler's best photos from the last day of the event, and her photos from this year's dog and cat fashion show.
