If you've been looking for a cat-themed 'zine, then you should have been at yesterday's third annual Meow Day festivities. The event, held at Silent Barn in Bushwick, offered an array of cat-focused items—cat bow ties; fanciful cat ears—alongside an adoption event to bring kitties to their furever homes.
Organizer Jackie Du had explained to Bushwick Daily, "The inspiration for the event comes from seeing stray cats in the neighborhood and figuring out how to find them homes! And of course the viral nature of internet cats, cat culture in general, and wanting to bring cat nerds together into one place and see what happens." Yesterday, she said it looked like this year's event was the biggest so far.
Some attendees showed off their cat tattoos and DJ Space Cat was also there. The 'zine, Sacred Pussy, is about cat worship and will be published in nine installments. Proceeds from the vendors benefitted A Tail Of Two Kitties, which also brought some of their adorable cats who are available for adoption.
