While Pier 2's official opening ceremony isn't until Thursday, it has actually been sitting there open to the public all week. We dropped by yesterday to take a look at the newest Brooklyn Bridge Park pier to get a makeover, and this one will feature five acres of active recreation, including basketball, bocce, handball, shuffleboard courts, fitness equipment, swings, and a full-size roller rink. There will also be picnic tables and restrooms available on the pier—click through for a little preview.

This is in addition to Brooklyn Bridge Park's other features, including concessions and a volleyball court (Pier 6), a soccer field, fishing spots, and grills (Pier 5), an upcoming beach that you cannot swim at (Pier 4), a greenway (Pier 3), a shallow swimming pool and bar (near Pier 2), picnic lawns (Pier 1), and condos condos condos!
