More than 300 women traveled to Long Island University's Fort Greene campus yesterday for a chance to join the Brooklyn Nets' dance team next season. Unlike the basketball team, which just brought in former player Jason Kidd as head coach, the Brooklynettes stuck with coach Adar Wellington, who had the difficult task yesterday of winnowing down the group of 300 to just 40 dancers.
The 40 that were selected will be cut roughly in half, and the remaining dancers will have to
climb the Wonder Wheel and plant a Nets jersey atop the Kentile Floors sign endure a "boot camp" of sorts. Only a handful of those dancers will be selected to join the team.
