These are the first aftermath shots that really show the scope of the damage-- the landscape on West Street is radically different than it was at this time last week. [Related: the Post has a good article about the mechanics of fighting the fire-- apparently if the wind hadn't been blowing from the East, a chunk of Greenpoint would burned down. The Times also has a short piece explaining the alarm system that the FDNY uses.]
