Not since we heard this morning that Fleetwood Mac would most likely be touring again next year have we been so excited. This October 5th, Petty Fest will take over the Music Hall of Williamsburg, and the next night it will move over to Manhattan's Bowery Ballroom. While Mr. Tom Petty himself won't be there (or will he be?), other musicians will be on hand to celebrate the man and his music (and maybe even his amazing cameo in The Postman?).
Musicians confirmed to “Get Drunk And Celebrate The Songs Of Tom Petty,” include: Norah Jones, Nicole Atkins, Jesse Malin, Har Mar Superstar, Ryan Miller (Guster), Will Forte, Jody Porter (Fountains Of Wayne), Jessie Baylin, Sammy James Jr. (The Mooney Suzuki), Cory Chisel, The Sheepdogs, Ben Trokan (Robbers On High Street), Antony Ellis (5 O’Clock Heros), Tad Kubler (The Hold Steady), Josh Lattanzi (The Lemonheads, The Candles), Jack Dishel, Justin Long, Alia Shawkat and Jonny Corndawg. Several additional guests are expected.
This is going to be like the Phil Collins Day Parade but SO MUCH BETTER. If you haven't already seen the epic, four hour long Tom Petty documentary Runnin' Down A Dream, we suggest you change that right now. We'll get you started:
