Great Performances Garrison Keillor's New Year's Eve Special (Sunday, 10:00 p.m. WNET 13 and NJN) we all know about the other hackneyed New Year's countdown specials with pop tarts singing and interchangeable pretty boy hosts? PBS offers up this live special which promises to be akin to a televised version of the Prairie Home Companion. So if you enjoy the folksy eclectic radio show dispense with the standard fare and tune into thirteen. The program also airs on NJN (New Jersey Network) at the same time as on WNET.

Times Square New Year's Celebration (Sunday, 11:00 p.m. WNYE 25) NYCTV’s coverage of the Times Square New Years festivities provides another viewing option for those who want something different and local. Given the quality of the programs the channel puts out, it is most likely better than the network TV options.

The Honeymooners Marathon (Monday, 12 midnight, WPIX 11) Bang, zoom, to the moon! Channel 11 has its traditional marathon of the Brooklyn set classic sitcom starring Jackie Gleason. The marathon runs from midnight to 5 p.m. with a break for the CW 11 Morning News between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. the only break.

Great Performances From Vienna: The New Year's Celebration 2007 (Monday, 9:00 p.m., WNET 13) Another tradition, this one hosted by broadcast legend Walter Cronkite, celebrates its twenty-third year on PBS. Zubin Mehta will raise his baton in front of the Vienna Philharmonic for a concert of Strauss family waltzes. Also included will be performances by Vienna State Opera Ballet.
